2 Compelling Reasons to Gather Around Food

At Morsl we have always believed that taking the time, however short it may be, to gather around food is important.  Founder Chris Brackett recalls many afternoons laughing and learning the love and joy that went into making his great grandmother’s chocolate chip cookies.  Better yet than the time spent making them was the time he spent gathered eating them around the table with his siblings and loved ones.  Nothing brings people together like fresh, warm, and gooey baked cookies
In this blog post, we will share 2 reasons why gathering around food is important.

1. Connection
The act of gathering and sitting down with family, friends and acquaintances provides a chance to connect and check in with each other.  Too often we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life that we forget to connect with others. Meaningful connection can only happen when we pause to really listen and authentically share about ourselves.  If you have time to make a meal or a treat, that is fantastic.  If you don’t, we suggest picking up or having a box of Morsl treats delivered to your gathering place.

2. Slow down and enjoy what you are eating
How often do we shovel some food down in our rush between scheduled events and don’t even really taste or appreciate what we are eating? We’ve all been there! Slowing down and sitting down can help us make the conscious effort to really taste what we are eating.  Some helpful things that make eating a pleasurable “experience” is to use as many senses as possible while you eat.  What does it look like? What does it smell like? How does it feel in your mouth? How does it taste? Discuss these answers with those around you.  Asking these questions and really thinking about them makes what can be a “means to an end” (eating), into a ritual.

There you have it, 2 really good reasons you need to slow down and gather around food.  Quality ingredients and quality time are at the heart of what we do at Morsl.  We believe in bringing people together over the best baked cookies and brownies, one box at a time, delivered to you.
